The Back the Blue Foundation is partnering with Auburn University’s Canine Performance Sciences (CPS), law enforcement, and state leaders to place highly trained detection dogs with School Resource Officers in Alabama schools.
Alabama School Detection Dog Initiative
Every Alabama student deserves a safe place to learn. The Alabama School Detection Dog Pilot Initiative is taking a proactive approach to school safety by placing fully trained detection dogs with School Resource Officers in Alabama schools.
Through partnerships with law enforcement, Auburn University’s Canine Performance Sciences (CPS) and state leaders, the Back the Blue Foundation is investing in prevention, strengthening community trust and providing schools with proven tools designed to detect credible threats before they reach students.
This pilot is about more than the placement of detection dogs—it is laying the foundation for a statewide program that expands access to these valuable resources, supports ongoing research and strengthens the partnership between schools, law enforcement and the communities they serve.
We have the resources, partnerships and opportunity to make Alabama a national leader in proactive school safety. Together, we can work toward making Alabama the safest place in America to go to school. Join us in making that vision a reality.

“We have the resources and ability to make Alabama the safest place to go to school. Why wouldn’t we do this for our state?”
